Add some water to your next wildflower hike at Lake Mendocino, a full oasis surrounded by trails decked in colorful flora.

Take the moderate 6-mile (round-trip) Shakota Trail on the west side for premium bloom spotting: Mariposa lilies blanket one particular meadow in May, and bald eagle sightings are a bonus. Combine wildflowers and wild views at Low Gap Park, where a 4-mile loop hike dazzles with monkey-flowers, larkspur, mission bells, hound’s tongue, and Ithuriel’s spear, along with a brilliant panorama of Ukiah Valley!
