Drinking Wine Helps!

Matanzas Creek Winery vineyard walk and picnic

Sipping excellent wine while gazing out at rolling vineyards, fields of lavender in the foreground … yep, we’re ready to help wine country! Matanzas Creek Winery near Santa Rosa has a superb outdoor setting and marvelous merlots. Pair it all with an outdoor picnic at one of their tables overlooking Taylor Mountain, and you've got a perfect afternoon.

This time of year is especially gorgeous as the vast rolling vineyards paint the plateau in gold and amber foliage. There's also a bocce court, and an easy half-mile do-it-yourself walking tour of the winery’s artistically manicured lavender garden, vista points, and secret spots for enjoying wine.

The autumn highlight is the gorgeous vineyard, where you’ll be hard pressed not to take a selfie among the crisp fall colors. After tasting Matanzas’ wines enjoy your favorite outside on the grounds with some food (you can bring your own). Cheers to you for supporting wine country. Santa Rosa’s little helpers!

Matanzas Creek Winery is at 6097 Bennett Valley Rd., Santa Rosa. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dog-friendly!
