Wine Surf

Kayak Bodega Bay and Wine Taste at Gourmet au Bay

Want to wine surf? Bodega Bay’s Gourmet au Bay put its name on the map by introducing “wine surfing”: three wine tastes brought to you on a mini wooden surfboard. Now they’ve opened a brand-new and bigger location, right down by the marina—inclusive of tasty food and a fantastic wine selection! Grab a seat on the spacious patio that overlooks Bodega Bay.

Choose from any three small-production wines (the menu changes, but the selections are always artisanal). The wood-fired oven churns out delicious flatbreads (fancy for “pizza”) to go with the wine. Sit back, relax, and savor the flavors. And the scenery!

BONUS: Work up an appetite paddling the calm, protected waters of Bodega Bay. Rent a kayak from Bodega Bay Kayak (they offer stand-up paddleboards too). Then cruise around the harbor with the seals and sea lions, keeping your eyes peeled for leopard sharks—you know, the harmless sharks! Go in the morning to avoid the afternoon winds.

Gourmet au Bay is located at 1412 Bay Flat Rd., Bodega Bay. They're open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (they close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday). Wine surfing is $12. Dog-friendly!
