Hidden Gems of San Ramon

Visit Forest Home Historic Park, Beer, Golf and Events

Ready, set ... okay, how about just a good old-fashioned re-set? Slow down, get rejuvenated, and find some cheer (make that “cheers!”) in San Ramon. Visit Forest Home Historic Park, book a tee time with craft brews and beautiful views, and find fun, complimentary holiday events. Unexpected, hassle-free, and filled with beautiful outdoors, get to know San Ramon.

Forest Home Farms Historic Park

Set at the base of the East Bay Hills, Forest Home Farms Historic Park is a 16-acre working farm with all kinds of cool exhibits to see and fun events to enjoy. Spend the day outside on a self-guided tour and see the Tractor Museum—home to antique tractors from the 1920s to 1950s. There’s also the new Railroad Depot display, and the Glass House Museum (on Saturdays there’s a no-fee docent tour of this Italianate Victorian House built in 1877).

Holiday Season Complimentary Events: The park’s “Fun on the Farm” activities run through the holiday season. Upcoming events include Giving Thanks, Holiday Wreath Making, and Holiday on the Farm.

Tee (and beer) Time!

Tee it up at Canyon Lakes Golf Course and Brewery, an 18-hole golf course suitable for all levels. It’s all about golf, bites, brews, and views here—and not necessarily in that order! The on-site craft brewery has award-winning beers, and seltzers too. Caddy Shack Hard Seltzer, or Players Premium Lager? Well, with 18 options to choose from, you won’t come up short (though we can’t guarantee that for your golf game). Check out their annual Thanksgiving Shotgun. There’s also the championship 18-hole San Ramon Royal Vista Golf Course.

Ale Together Now!

Some trails are more refreshing than others, especially beer trails! And while San Ramon has incredible hiking and biking trails—over 40 to choose from—it’s also part of the San Ramon Valley’s excellent array of craft brew pubs. Make it a day of brews or do a “brews and views” tour by combining a scenic hike or bike ride followed by tasty beers at Canyon Lakes Brewery, Fieldwork, and nearby Thirsty Bay Tap ’N Pour and The Growler.
