Room to Roam and Sip
Wine Taste and Hike at Picchetti
Free-range roosters and hens, wide-open space with hiking trails, and an earthy wine tasting room twinkling with lights. Hiking and wine tasting go hand in hand at Picchetti Ranch and Picchetti Winery near Cupertino in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Thank the Peninsula Open Space Trust for the hiking trails on Picchetti's 300 oak-studded acres. The 3.4-mile (round-trip) Zinfandel Trail makes a short, sweet option with nice views. After the hike, step into the brick-walled Picchetti tasting room (one of the oldest wineries in California, Picchetti dates back to the 1890s) and sample a variety of wines, from award-winning red fusions to crisp white dessert ports. Look out for the hens and their newborn chicks roaming the grounds!
