Wilmington Waterfront Park Sunset

Most people know the Port of Los Angeles as the place with all the smoky factories and huge barges, but this industrial area added some glitter to its grittier side when Wilmington Waterfront Park opened four years ago. It wasn't without some growing pains (the Port originally wanted to build a large sound barrier, but Wilmington residents urged for a park instead of an isolating wall, and their tenacity paid off). Whether you're up for a nice walk, a picnic, playground time with kids, or a great view, this 30-acre park covering nine blocks has it all: plentiful greenery with its Great Lawn, barbecues, benches, and a quaint raised walkway that makes a nice spot for viewing a sunset. On the eastern side of the park you'll find the fun Splash Fountain (aka liquid plaza) that changes colors at night, so if you don’t catch a good sunset, you can still see some good hues.

Wilmington Waterfront Park is located east of the 110 Fwy. and south of C St. Free parking is on West C St. Open every day from 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Dog-friendly!
