Truckee Riverwalk
Refreshing Truckee River Views Along the Reno Riverwalk
A city that has nature running right through it? That’s Reno! The Truckee River flows through the heart of downtown, and the popular and well-maintained Reno Riverwalk makes for a delightful downtown stroll.
Start your walk at The Basement, an underground space beneath the historic (1933) U.S. Post Office, where you can get a caffeine fill-up at the artisan Vida Coffee before crossing over the Truckee River and heading west alongside it. Pass Burning Man sculptures, restaurants, and brew pubs with lively outdoor settings. Kayakers are often on the river, as well as locals lounging in shallow sections.
You can go as far as you like; we recommend the 20-minute walk (one-way) to the year-round Riverside Farmers' Market (Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until June 4; after June 4, Thursday evenings, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.).
Here local farmers and other artisan vendors showcase and share their commitment to a healthy food system: pesticide-free, pasture-raised, unprocessed. Lowenkind Bakery sells out of their pies quickly, Reno Roots is a good place to pick up cacti, and for a cool tee-shirt souvenir, stop by the Nineteen87 & Co booth.
