Take an Easy Hike at Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve
Take a relaxing hike on the lower section of Purisima Creek Trail in Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve. From the western entrance at Higgins Canyon Road and Purisima Creek Road, pick up a map at the trailhead.
The lower section of Purisima Creek Trail follows an old logging road alignment, making for an easygoing hike through a fern-lined canyon beneath beautiful second-growth redwoods, with a few hidden pockets of ancient old growth.
When sunlight filters through the towering trees and shimmers across the water, it adds an extra glow to the greenery. The atmosphere is colored in redwoods, gold, and fern-fabulousness (we made the color up). Take your time. It’s amazing how energized you’ll feel after letting yourself relax.
