Napa's Art of the Matter

Stroll Downtown Napa and See Beautiful Artwork and Sculptures

Each year, lively downtown Napa uncorks more than just excellent wine to pair with the food scene. Art has firmly established itself along the walkways and parkways in the area, punctuated by an annual ArtWalk with a distinct theme. This year’s theme is Climate Action and Sustainability.

Nine sculptures have been created by artists from the US and Canada. Spend a bit of time strolling this outdoor exhibition while imbibing Napa’s beautiful riverfront, including sculptures and art independent of the current exhibition, and lively Oxbow Market.

The works you’ll see are intended to connect afresh with issues involving the climate, and to inspire collective stewardship. Strolling the paths alongside the Napa River you’ll witness some of Napa Valley’s diverse ecology.

Pro tip: When you encounter the sculpture Aurora, by the artist Diego Harris (from Upper Lake, CA), take a time out to eat at Gott’s Roadside, located right behind the artwork. The fried chicken sandwich and garlic fries, balsamic glazed brussels sprouts, and a milkshake are a pure yum fest (as you may have surmised, it’s a WS favorite).

BONUS: Make it an art double-header with winter’s temporary Napa Lighted Art Festival.

Showcasing technology and lighting as a creative art, this fully walkable outdoor celebration in downtown Napa is aglow with 11 art sculptures bathed in light.

Volunteers wearing yellow vests hand out complimentary maps to visitors. Fridays and Saturdays, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays through Thursdays, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (ends February 16, 2025).

BONUS: Check out Napa Yard, a lively and fun community gathering spot paralleling the Napa River. Play a game of cornhole, convene around fire pits, enjoy food and "garden to glass" cocktails or non-alcohol drinks. Family friendly and dog friendly!
