Nature & Nurture in Reno Tahoe

Step Outside of Your Comfort Zone in Reno Tahoe

Reno Tahoe doesn’t want you to step outside of your comfort zone this fall. It wants you to leap outside of it! Find your true nature in a place where there are no limits on how you adventure, and how you relax. From Reno’s soul-soothing natural hot springs and incredible resort spas, to waterfall hikes, yin yoga sessions, and fine dining amid the ambience of the rippling Truckee River, Reno’s no-fuss vibe is as natural as its great wild open.

Hot Springs and Waterfalls

Wilderness hot springs are Reno’s uncut gems, with strong geothermal activity in the Sierra Nevada and high desert of Northern Nevada. Finding these natural pools is part of the adventure. In the name of forging your own path, remember the hard-and-fast rule: no geotagging. But there’s no harm in getting some helpful tips on hidden wilderness hot springs!

If you’d rather sink into something less rugged, find your ahhh-mazing natural soak at places like Steamboat Hot Springs, where options range from private aromatherapy mineral baths to detox therapies and outdoor tubs fed by geothermal mineral water. Book a massage or facial treatment too.

At 1862 David Walley’s Resort the whole family can soak themselves silly, with additional sources of entertainment like ping-pong, a playground, and billiards. The 1862 Restaurant & Saloon has a menu to keep everyone happy, and full! Carson Hot Springs has both indoor and outdoor pools and spas with varying temperatures and the natural resource of mineral water coming from 35,000 feet beneath the ground.

Hike to Hunter Creek Falls in the nearby Mt. Rose Wilderness. The 6-mile (round-trip) trail is popular with locals who thankfully aren’t bashful about sharing this special place. Go early in the day for cooler temperatures as sections of the hike are exposed. The H2-tumbler is created from snowmelt and manages good mojo year-round, but fall is a great time to visit with cooler temps and golden hues in the trees.

The Truckee River flows right through the heart of downtown Reno, and the Reno Riverwalk is a delightful way to go on a waterside stroll, or casual bike roll. Kayakers paddle next to you as you pass Burning Man sculptures, and restaurants with prime riverfront patios. Find a shallow section of the river and soak your feet after a day of exploration.
