What’s giant and ancient and red all over? Why, only the most magical redwoods you’ll ever see! Just a few hours from San Francisco, Humboldt Redwoods State Park is home to the largest remaining stand of virgin redwoods in the world. Here’s the plan: Start with the ultimate redwood photo op at the world-famous Shrine Drive-thru Tree (created by Mother Nature herself!), then head to the Avenue of the Giants to hang out with the largest old-growth redwoods in the world. These giants are in the heart of Humboldt Redwoods State Park, with its abundant hiking trails and memorial groves. You can also picnic, fish, and swim along the Eel River.

Add a little Victorian architecture to your visit in Old Town Eureka, where you can enjoy shopping and dining with views of the bay. Be sure to make time for Humboldt County’s 10 most famous trees, including the Star Wars Tree and Brad Pitt Grove!
