Live the SLO Life

Small-Town California, Big-Time Charm

This year, live the SLO life. San Luis Obispo charms with its friendly vibe, Mediterranean climate, and fun adventures both in town and along the Central Coast.

SLO Your Roll

Thanks to San Luis Obispo’s mild weather all year long, you won’t need more than a sweater for these adventures. Explore breezy beaches just minutes away like Pismo, Avila, and Morro Bay, tour historic Hearst Castle, and venture on two feet or two wheels to kid- and dog-friendly hiking and biking trails.

Just a short drive from town, Montaña de Oro State Park is one of the best places to find secluded sands, wild waves, tranquil tidepools, coves, and pocket beaches. The Bluff Trail is a nice 4-mile out-and-back paralleling the Pacific, and ideal for spotting wildlife like whales.

Take cruiser bikes from SLO on the Bob Jones Trail all the way to Avila Beach. The paved path passes oak groves and apple orchards before reaching the beach, where you can continue west on the oceanfront along the bike-friendly Avila Beach Drive. You may hear barking seals on nearby docks.

If you prefer to stay closer to homebase in SLO, go on a hike at Cerro San Luis. At just under 4 miles all-in, the challenging trail tops out at a panorama of the Santa Lucia Mountains and all the way to the Pacific.
