San Francisco on a Roll

San Francisco Brewing Company at Ghirardelli Square

The new San Francisco treat? Small batch craft beer! And the place to find it? Ghirardelli Square. San Francisco Brewing Co. is all about beers that are delicious and easy to drink. Don’t worry, its location doesn’t mean it’s only for tourists (why should they have all the fun?). Locals also like it here for its easygoing vibe, large outdoor patio with fire pits, live music, and of course—the beer!

The Broadway IPA is a year-round flavorful brew of hops in floral and citrus flavors. For a full-flavored, rich and malty character brew, go for the Alcatraz Amber.

Really wanna earn those beers? Embrace your inner tourist (and make it an early start!) and pedal across the Golden Gate to Sausalito. Ride your own bike or rent your wheels from Blazing Saddles (handlebar bags are removable, for those who don’t want to look like a tourist), then breeze along the bike path that runs through the Presidio to the Golden Gate Bridge. After you’ve pedaled across, return the way you came, or roll down to Sausalito’s smooth bikeways and waterfront area where you can return via ferry and make your way to San Francisco Brewing Co. Bike to bridge to beer … or just make it a day of beer. That’s the beer talking!

HIKING TIP: Rather hike than bike before beer? America's best urban hike is right here in San Francisco!

Sausalito Ferry Schedule on Blue & Gold Fleet (be sure to reserve your ferry bike spot in advance). Blazing Saddles,2715 Hyde St., San Francisco. The patio at San Francisco Brewing Co. is dog-friendly!
