2017 is the year of the waterfall. And in April, there’s only one place that’s “best in flow.” Redding and its surrounding areas pack a powerful punch of watery wonders—there are at least 50 (yep, 50!) waterfalls within an hour’s drive east or west. April in Redding is literally known as Waterfall Month!

From a hike-in to the hidden beauty, Potem Creek Falls, to postcard classics like the short hike to Burney Falls (aka the eighth wonder of the world!), there’s even a waterfall with a small cave hidden behind it—Hedge Creek Falls. Find a swimming hole and a trio of waterworks at McCloud Falls, or head to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, filled with fantastic hiking and biking trails, including some that lead to four distinct waterfalls.

Pro tip: 11 of Redding’s waterfalls are so close they can all be hiked to in three days (for real)! Who’s ready?
