Redding to Roll

Redding Area Spring Bike Trails

Redding is home to the best spring rolls. But not the kind you’re thinking of! We’re talking bike trails galore that are spring loaded with wild scenery, wildflowers, and wowing views. This incredible adventure town—surrounded by huge mountains—has nailed outdoor explorations: You’ll spend more time on the trails than in your car.

The 17-mile Sacramento River Trail lives up to its reputation as one of the country’s premier rail trails. Ideal for casual bikers and serious cyclists alike, this car-free paved trail parallels the flowing Sacramento River (a fly-fishing mecca) with wildflowers festooning the sides of the trail and iconic views of snowy Mount Shasta.

Mountain bikers will be grinning ear to ear exploring Whiskeytown National Recreation Area’s miles of under-the-radar trails. (Pro Tip: Just 10 minutes outside Redding, Whiskeytown is more than a biking haven; it’s got an incredible waterfall hike, and the lake is a paddling paradise.) Redding, set, roll!
