Snow Dazzled + Lake Inspired

Winter’s big snowfall brings spring skiing for the ages! March and April are some of the best months for the season at North Lake Tahoe’s 11 downhill ski resorts, some of which include huge views of Big Blue.

Beyond famous downhill resorts like Northstar California and Palisades Tahoe, North Lake Tahoe has a trifecta of forest, lake, and mountain views at Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area (you can snowshoe and hike here too). Adventure among ponderosa pines and white firs, expansive meadows, and huge views of Lake Tahoe. Trails here are also dog friendly!

Family-friendly Granlibakken resort is ideal for simplicity—a lovely Nordic-inspired retreat with a warming hut and spa. Forget “Out of the Office” … you’re “Out by the Lake.” And blue looks good on you! Step into snowshoes or hiking boots for incredible North Lake Tahoe views. The 2-mile (round-trip) journey to Picnic Rock on the Tahoe Rim Trail has a grand view of Lake Tahoe.

North Lake Tahoe is one of California’s most romantic places—for shore! Catch a sunset at spots like Commons Beach in Tahoe City. From family friendly, to hidden and secret, find a little “me” or “we” time at these beaches and shorelines.

Trail Time + Town Time

North Lake Tahoe creates connections with its vast network of trails. Try tackling a section of the famous Tahoe Rim Trail, a 165-mile long-distance hiking trail which forms a loop around Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada and Carson ranges of California and Nevada. The trail ranges in elevation from 6,240 feet at the outlet of Lake Tahoe to 10,338 feet at Relay Peak in Nevada.

Or try Meeks Bay Trail, paralleling Meeks Creek and ascending switchbacks to a series of alpine lakes at different mileage points, including Lake Genevieve and Hidden Lake.

The whole family will enjoy a leisurely bike ride along the three-mile paved section of the Tahoe East Shore Trail. Interpretive signs provide plenty of context and information about the geology and wildlife here as well as the history of the Washoe people and facts about Lake Tahoe.

Next, get out on the town, any town: there are 12 to choose from, each with their own distinct character. Fun, food, romance, adventure, shopping, relaxation…whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it in North Lake Tahoe. Discover your ideal town to explore.

Dine lakeside by Carnelian Bay or soak in the alpine setting from Olympic Valley at a fire pit with some beverage sips and tasty s’mores.

Add a little trail mix! North Lake Tahoe has a stellar craft beer scene, where you combine outdoor adventures with adventures in beer tasting along the North Lake Tahoe Ale Trail. But rum is also a popular beverage of choice here, best discovered in the cocktail scene at many spots around the lake. All you have to is follow the trail… the Tahoe Rum Trail
