Kite Hill San Francisco
You know that phrase, it's hiding right under your nose? Well, the tallest landmark in San Francisco, Sutro Tower, is a blinking beacon to one of the city's least known urban parks. Twin Peaks! Just kidding. It's tiny Kite Hill, hidden beneath Sutro Tower. This east-facing grassy knoll is often overshadowed by neighboring Twin Peaks, but don't be fooled: Kite Hill is jam-packed with San Francisco vistas! Views spread across San Francisco's colorful houses and other parks around town: Tank Hill and Buena Vista Park, to name a few. Take in a quiet afternoon from one of the benches. There's a grassland plant community here too, with California poppy, Ithuriel's spear, and soap plant—a lily exclusive to California. The grass turns a vibrant green during a wet winter. The breezy locale is also perfect for flying a kite in the winter sky's light.
Kite Hill is located at the north end of Corwin St. Entry also available at Yukon & 19th St. Dog friendly!
