LArt Walk

Go on an Art Walk in Downtown Los Angeles

Located northeast of DTLA, the historic district of Lincoln Heights (one of LA’s oldest suburbs) is known for its architectural richness and cultural landmarks. And this urban hike takes you through the heart of it. A bonus: The nearby Heritage Square Museum offers an up-close look at elegant Victorian style homes with decorative facades, while the Brewery Artist Lofts is home to the world’s largest art complex.

Begin the hike at Lincoln Park, one of LA’s first established parks. Take the trail north of the parking lot for a short loop that offers a 360-degree view of the surrounding hills and lake below. Follow the path through the park alongside the water’s edge, emerging on the west side of the park.

Then head down North Main Street for one mile until you reach South Avenue 21. Turn left to enter the Brewery Artist Lofts, where the biannual Brewery Art Walk is held. (The next art walk will be sometime in the fall of 2022.) Seize the chance to meet artists, purchase their work directly, and explore the industrial site of the former Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewery.

Head back the way you came to return to the parking lot, or take a detour and check out Lincoln Heights Jail, a former prison known for its Art Deco style and history of notorious inmates, including Al Capone.

Bonus Eats: Swing by the Heights Deli & Bottle Shop (2927 North Broadway) to choose from an assortment of delectable deli sandwiches, pizza, and salads to pair with their great beer, wine, and spirits selection. Friendly staff and good vibes!

Lincoln Park is located along Valley Blvd. right off the intersection of the 5 and 10 freeways. Free parking available at the recreation center. Dog-friendly!
