Beer Island
Find a beach, beer, and view of the Bay Bridge on Treasure Island
Did we have you at beer? Island? Both?! Why not toss in a brilliant view of the Bay Bridge too? Treasure Island has just the beach for bringing this terrific trifecta together! Thank Woods Beer Co. for combining craft beer and 150 tons of sand. Facing the Bay Bridge, Woods Island Club is an old industrial airplane hangar that’s been converted to a barrel fermentation cellar, tap bar, and spacious outdoor beach area. Woods brought in the sand and created a beach, complete with picnic tables and lounge chairs, set about twenty feet from the water of Clipper Cove.
Go to the beach, stay for the beer! Woods Beer Co. got its start in San Francisco and keeps brewing up new locations due to their small- batch success in making creative and experimental beers, often in collaboration with friends from the local food scene. Their “adventurous beers for curious drinkers” include selections like their limited edition Girl Scout cookie–influenced beer (Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter, anyone?) as well as signature options like Morpho, an herbal ale brewed with hibiscus, maté, and bay leaves.
Bring your own picnic or buy some fresh-baked empanadas on-site. Then kick back “beachside”… by the Bay Bridge … with a beer and some ambient music. Adding a splash of kitsch, a large blow-up waterslide beckons off to the side (weather permitting; and yes, you have to sign a waiver). Beer goggles not included.
Woods Island Club is at 422 Clipper Cove Way on Treasure Island. Open weekends. Hours are subject to the weather, and the website is updated daily. Check out their currently planned hours. Available for public and private events. Dog-friendly!
