Reno Tahoe and the Great Artdoors

Explore some of Reno Tahoe's Great Artdoors

Reno Tahoe is renowned for its creative culture, evident and vibrant throughout its downtown.

One of the world’s most famous festivals happens every September near Reno, in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. It’s Burning Man, of course. Yet go any other time and the Black Rock Desert (just 2 hours by car from Reno) still delivers a mesmerizing wonderland of art by nature and art in nature.

See if you can get onto a tour to see the impressive (photo-famous) Fly Geyser. The geyser is on private land, so you have to go on a guided trip to see six-foot spews of boiling water fly into the air for several feet, and in technicolor!

BONUS: En route to the “playa” you’ll pass historic trails in the Black Rock Desert-High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area, and the ethereal Pyramid Lake.
