All the Wright Stuff
Camping at Wright's Beach on the Sonoma Coast
Avoiding drama? That’s a good thing. Unless you’re talking about campsites. In that case, the more dramatic the better! And Wright’s Beach on the Sonoma Coast is quite the drama queen—27 campsites sitting smack dab in the middle of the wild and raging Sonoma Coast State Beach.
You’re not going to be swimming in these waters (chilly temps plus major riptides), but it sure is nice to gaze upon it, and upon the wide, stroll-worthy beach (especially on calm mornings). All of the sites at Wright’s Beach are good, fitted with a fire ring, a paved parking spot, and a picnic table.
Sites 1 through 8 are right on the beach (site 8 has a brilliant and expansive view but can be very wind-exposed; site 7 is smaller but more protected). Site 10 is the most private, with easy access to the beach. Spend your days hanging out at camp or strolling the sandy miles-long beach.
Or hike one of the finest coastal stretches in Northern California: the Kortum Trail leaves right from Wright’s Beach. At night have a fire and listen to waves crash on shore. All Wright, all Wright, all Wright!
Wright’s Beach is dog-friendly! Reservations strongly recommended for weekends and holidays.
